good stuff! Looking forward to future issues (and whenever the Avs hire you guys to do this for their main site). One question though… where are the rumors coming from about the Avs looking to acquire a premier forward in return for some of their offensive defensemen?
The funny thing is I read that article, and an article about the Caps shopping guys and I asked about Hannan to Washington the day before it happened. But generally there seemed to have been a lot of chatter about the Avalanche and their defensive situation.

thanks for the link. When “Premier” forward was mentioned I was thinking someone was hanging with Ek or something as there are not too many “Premier” forwards available for teams to go after. Players like Parise are great (along with other 1st line wingers), but the Avs really won’t have the cap space in the long run (after next season) to warrant trading away good assets for a 1-2 year player. The Avs could benefit from a Top 6 player with leadership and possibly some grit (Langs, Umberger, etc) but I don’t see Edmonton being the trade partner (unless Cumiskey is moved for a pick). Unless more injuries hit, it looks like the Avs will sit still for the next few months to see where they are then possibly pick up a piece or two to compliment the team if the asking price isn’t too crazy.

I agree. I think, if everything goes well, there won’t be many (if any) more moves this year. There is too much money needing to be locked up in the future for anything big to happen. Though the Devils could find themselves in trouble when Parise returns, if Brodeur is healthy, and prospects look good to teams with too much salary.
