The Colorado Avalanche have been busy bees as of late and they still aren’t finished making moves this summer.

The club today announced the signings of both blueliner Ryan Wilson and up and down forward Kevin Porter to one year contracts. Both players had previously filed for arbitration, which was scheduled for later in the month.

“We are pleased to have both Kevin and Ryan under contract,” said Avalanche General Manager/ Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. “We look forward to seeing them at training camp.”

Wilson, a stronger, shutdown type defenseman was signed for $1.275 million next season. Porter, a forward who won the Hobey Baker Award, was signed for $850,000.

The team also added left wing Patrick Rissmiller, who played 43 games with the Lake Erie Monsters last season among four other teams – two of which were NHL clubs. He had 11 goals and 19 assists for the Monsters. Rissmiller signed a two-way contract worth $525,000 at the top level.

Training camp will be interesting this season considering the logjam of offense currently on the Avalanche roster. Salary numbers are courtesy of Renaud P Lavoie.
