The newest alleged signing for the Colorado Avalanche is an actual roster player this time.

Although the team hasn’t announced it officially, *It’s official, the Avalanche have sent out a press release confirming that Matt Hunwick has been signed to a one year, $1.55 million contract. This has been was previously confirmed by Adrian Dater of the Denver Post.

Hunwick was considered a bust trade by many last season and his signing comes in the wake of the surprise trade of longtime defenseman John-Michael Liles. Hunwick will not be considered a replacement to Liles and is speculated to be a salary filler so the team reaches the salary cap floor at $48.3 million.
