Paul Stastny Named To All-Star Game
It looks like Colorado Avalanche center Paul Stastny will have another chance to play in the All-Star game after all, as a list of recently injured players has forced the NHL to begin naming replacements in advance of the festivities this weekend.
Stastny was named to an All-Star team only once before, but was physically unable to play. Originally invited during the 2007-08 season, Stastny was forced to opt out due to a sudden appendectomy. The following season he missed the opportunity to play altogether, due to the lengthy recovery from a broken arm.
It hasn’t all been bad news for Stastny though, who was elected to represented the United States last year during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. He played in a total of six games, bringing home three points and a silver medal.
Stastny will join fellow Avalanche Matt Duchene, who was previously named to this year’s All-Star event and rookie Kevin Shattenkirk who has been invited to participate in the skills competition.
What do you think? Does Stastny deserve this honor?
