Avalanche Trade Colby Cohen
The Colorado Avalanche have made their second trade of the season, dealing away defensive prospect Colby Cohen.
In a surprise move, the Avs sent 21-year-old Cohen to the Boston Bruins in return for 25-year-old defenseman Matt Hunwick. Hunwick is in his second full season with the Bruins and boasts one goal, two assists, and a plus three rating after 22 games. He had 14 points and was minus 16 last season and added six helpers in the playoffs as well.
“Matt is another young defenseman who can contribute to our lineup right away.” – Greg Sherman
Hunwick adds a little more experience to bolster a younger blue line, but he wouldn’t necessarily be considered a veteran. With roster positions already full for the Avalanche, the question is: where will Hunwick fit?
With Adam Foote out of the lineup and the subsequent reassignment of Jonas Holøs to the Lake Erie Monsters, it would appear as if Hunwick will be with Colorado in case of injury.
Cohen played three games with the Avs this season, scoring no points and finishing minus one.
What do you think? Was this a wise move? Should the Avs have traded potential for a current fix?
